While Double Wear is a hot favourite among those with dry skin, wrinkles, or fine lines, it has never sat well on my oily skin, or given my blemish and scar-filled skin the coverage it needs. The last foundation this is comparable to is Estee Lauder Double Wear, since that is a holy-grail product for those who love high coverage. However, Superstay does last longer, and is not as thick, and therefore spreads into a thinner layer before drying. Compared to Wet N Wild Photo Focus, it actually needs more building up to get the same opacity when applied on blemishes or spots. However, #FauxFilter doesn’t age well in that it settles into creases and fine lines, which this less-drying foundation doesn’t.Īnother drugstore foundation which gives good coverage is the Maybelline Superstay Foundation. While the paint-like finish of #FauxFilter doesn’t budge from my face unless it gets greasy after being worn for four to five hours, Photo Focus gets a tad more oily, and my face looks shinier in it. That’s a huge reason this foundation works for me. For that reason, full-coverage foundations, which others deem too heavy, are a staple for me. This is because my skin gets oily within an hour, and can make any foundation look dewy and natural, negating the cake-face issue many have. How does it work compared to other full-coverage foundations?Īs an ardent lover of painting my face with Huda Beauty’s full-coverage, mask-like foundation #FauxFilter, I am accustomed to what they call a “beat face”. Last but not the least: use a beauty sponge to blend this, because its thickness is incompatible with brushes, and gives a streaky, unnatural finish, whereas a wet sponge makes this foundation look dewy and soft. Setting this with a powder is important if you have oily skin, but not if your skin is dry. Then, applying a primer to help it stay on is also important because it is a thick foundation, so it can get clay-ey around creases and wrinkles. Moisturising and hydrating your skin is really important before applying this, because that’s when it gives the smoothest, most seamless coverage. Over-blending and layering thick layers with this foundation and dragging it in an attempt to buff it in will get you nowhere! The trick is to apply a thick layer, press it in with a blender once or twice, and then letting it sit on blemishes till it dries. Since it is a thick product, it can’t really be layered unless you sheer it out with a wet sponge, so there is a certain way to apply it if you want proper coverage. This foundation dries fast and doesn’t move without oil or cream to help remove it, so you have to work fast.
